Free Akses ke dalam source code dan harus memenuhi beberapa kriteria tertentu yang sesuai dengan konsep “Open Source” (Free).

5. No Discrimination Against Persons or Groups
6. No Discrimination Against Fields of Endeavor
7. Distribution of License
8. License Must Not Be Specific to a Product
9. License Must Not Restrict Other Software
10. License Must Be Technology-Neutral

Open Standards Requirement for Software

• No Intentional Secrets
• Availability
• Patents
• No Agreements
• No OSR-Incompatible Dependencies

OSI's Education Project and Ways to Participate

OSI’s memberikan dukungan terhadap:

1. Menyediakan platform untuk memfasiltasi antara pendidik dan open source project
2. Membantu mempromosi open source teknologi dan metode-nya dalam pendidikan.
3. Membantu mengembangkan kurikulum open source untuk pendidikan (SMA, Perkuliahan dan sebagainya).
4. Membantu mempromosikan dalam membagi kurikulum open source dan hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan open source, diantara berbagai pihak.
